Since being born and bought up in Delhi, street food has become a lifeline. And one cannot go back from Delhi without having this authentic thele waala matar kulcha..
You must have seen many pictures of matar kulcha and captioned Delhi.. That’s enough said for the picture. This is my Homemade matar kulcha, where in I have baked the kulcha’s.

Preparation time : 10Minutes
Cooking time : 30 minutes
Ingredients
- Matar( yellow peas) : 1kg(soaked overnight)
- Chilly powder :2 tbsp
- Dhaniya powder : 1tbsp
- Kalonji(nigella seeds) : 1tsp
- Amchoor powder : 2tbsp
- Chaat masala: 2tbsp
- Salt
- Maida : 3 cups
- Beaten sour yogurt : 1cup
- Baking soda : a pinch
- Onions
Method
- For the matar : In the cooker add soaked matar and salt. Cook it for 15 minutes or until its nicely done.
- Now add grinded coriander powder, chilly powder, Amchoor and kalonji to it. Mix well
- Keep aside
- For the kulcha : To the all purpose flour add baking soda, salt. Mix it without water.
- Now add little oil, curd and water, to make the dough.
- Cover it and keep it for atleast 5-6 hours.
- Now make small balls of the dough and roll it to make chapatis.
- Preheat the oven.
- Keep the kulcha’s in it for 10 minutes.
- On the other hand garnish the matar with chopped onions, lemon, and chaat masala.
- Butter the ready kulcha and serve hot.
